Natasha Stuart & Joseph Calderazzo

Tokio Hotel, Cockle Bay Monday 19th December 2016

“The best things in life are free” can sometimes be true as I pleasantly found out on a glorious Monday night in Cockle Bay. Tokio Hotel has been providing free live music 7 nights a week for some time now and as the sun set over beautiful Darling Harbour, drink in hand and listening to Joseph and Natasha, it is a reminder that we live in a beautiful city that provides so much.

As a duo Natasha and Joseph can tackle just about anything and requests from a wide range of artists including James Taylor, Paul Kelly and Led Zeppelin are performed with enthusiasm, passion and gusto. Joseph is an exceptional guitarist and does a tremendous job of filling in the spaces between Natasha’s vocals. Both are seasoned musicians and are clearly enjoying the relaxed vibe and chilled atmosphere of the Tokio Hotel. After all it is a Monday night, but the patronage is strong.

The highlight of the night for me is when Natasha sings a few of her own penned songs. “Rebound’ and “Dangerous” are particularly impressive and are taken from her album “Light this Fuse” which was released in 2011. There is another level of energy felt in the room when Natasha sings her own songs and the excitement and chance to present her own work is clearly demonstrated by that infectious smile that can’t help but make you feel happy.

A quick break to watch the 9pm fireworks display is right on cue and caps off a thoroughly entertaining evening.

Look up the Tokio Hotel to see what is on if you are strolling past one day and I’m sure you will enjoy the ambience and experience.
